Reborn Marcus Mosiah Garvey Jr. ONH (17 August 1887 – 10 June 1940) was a Jamaican political activist. He was the founder and first President-General of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA-ACL, commonly known as UNIA), through which he declared himself Provisional President of Africa. Garvey was ideologically a black nationalist and Pan-Africanist. His ideas came to be known as Garveyism.
Garvey was born in Saint Ann's Bay and was apprenticed into the print trade as a teenager working in Kingston before living briefly in Costa Rica, Panama and England.
Haile Selassie was known as a child as Lij Tafari Makonnen (Ge'ez: ልጅ ተፈሪ መኮንን, romanized: Ləj Täfäri Mäkonnən). Lij is translated as "child" and serves to indicate that a youth is of noble blood. His given name Tafari means "one who is respected or feared. Ras.Tafari's royal line (through his paternal grandmother) descended from the Shewan Amhara Solomonic king, Sahle Selassie. He was born on 23 July 1892, in the village of Ejersa Goro, in the Hararghe province of Ethiopia. Reborn Charles Edwards (1915 – 1994), known as "King Emmanuel Charles" by his followers, was the founder and leader of the "Ethiopia Africa Black International Congress, True Church of Divine Salvation (E.A.B.I.C.)". Charles is regarded to have established the "Churchical Order of Melchizedek " which governs this Congress functioning as Church and State. On March 1, 1958, the E.A.B.I.C was formed, now headquartered in Bull Bay, Jamaica. This group of Rastafari soon became known as Bobo Ashanti, adopting their name from the Ashanti tribe in Ghana.
Reborn as Miguel Orlando Collins on 17 April 1976 in the Parish of Saint Mary, but better known by his stage name Sizzla Kalonji, is a Jamaican reggae musician. He is one of the most commercially and critically successful contemporary reggae artists and is noted for his high number of releases. As of 2018 he has released 56 solo albums. Like his devout Rastafarian parents, Sizzla subscribes to the Bobo Ashanti branch of the Rastafari movement. He was raised in August Town, Kingston, Jamaica where he studied mechanical engineering at Dunoon High School.
Reborn as Randolph Codner, 12 November 1972 in the Parish of Clarendon, but revealed himself as the renown Malchizedek the priest of most high God. Malchizedek is the vine One grafted from the Alpha [Father], and the Zedekites are branches stemming from the original tree rooted in Eden. Malchizedek proclaimed the name of the LORD in Rastafari according to scriptures, and has become Bearer of the Most Precious in fulfillment of end time prophecies. What is considered a foolish nation and not even a people themselves, have summoned the Lord and earned the right to access the eternal kingdom through Christ, just as God promised.
Reborn as Clifton George Bailey III, 13 April 1967, in Islington in the Parish of Saint Mary, but is better known by his stage name Capleton. He is a Jamaican reggae and dancehall musician. He is also referred to as King Shango, King David, The Fireman and The Prophet. His record label is called David House Productions. He is known for his Rastafarian views expressed in his songs. Capleton rejects the name given to him at birth. He now prefers "King Shango", given its roots in the Yoruba language.
As a teenager, he sneaked out of his home to catch local dancehall acts, eventually leaving St. Mary for Kingston at the age of 18 to work on his career as a dancehall deejay.
Reborn as Cliffroy Taylor August 6, 1980 in Portmore, Jamaica, I Wayne is a roots reggae singer who is known for his many hits like "living in love" and "Can't satisfy her" from his debut album, Lava Ground. I Wayne was raised by his aunt and her husband Ansell Collins, a renowned keyboard player. This young artist has been refining his craft since age seven. Coming from a musical family, I Wayne had first made his venture into performance as a student at Greater Portmore High School, joining a local group Vibes Machine.
Reborn as Robert Nesta Marley OM (6 February 1945 – 11 May 1981) was Jamaica's first reggae super-star singer, guitarist, and songwriter. Considered one of the pioneers of the genre, he fused elements of reggae, ska and rock-steady music and was renowned for his distinctive vocal and songwriting style. Marley increased the visibility of Jamaica's reggae music worldwide and made himself a global figure in popular culture. He became known as Rastafari's icon, and he infused his music with a sense of spirituality.
Reborn as Jepther McClymont OD (20 October 1964) in Davyton, in the Parish of Manchester, the seventh of nine children, to a strict Seventh Day Adventist Church family. Better known as Luciano, he is a Jamaican second-generation roots reggae singer. Luciano began recording in 1992 with his first single "Ebony & Ivory" (on which he was credited as 'Stepper John') on the Aquarius Record label, followed by a split album with DJ Presley (now credited as 'Luciana') for producer Sky High.His first releases as Luciano included the hit single "Give My Love a Try"...
